E1 Critical Equipment Enclosures

E2 Water Infrastructure Enclosures

E2 Water System Enclosures are designed to protect aboveground water system components and systems.  The construction is weatherproof non-corrosive aluminum, or optional stainless steel. The tubular welded frame provides impact protection and security.

Earthsafe builds these aluminum enclosures to ASSE 1060 standards. ASSE 1060 is a standard for aluminum enclosures used to protect backflow prevention assemblies (BPAs) from the environment.

In terms of weight, ASSE 1060 specifies that the enclosure should be lightweight yet durable enough to withstand the elements and protect the BPAs inside. This is important because a heavy enclosure may put excessive weight on the BPAs, which can lead to premature failure or damage. A lightweight enclosure also makes installation and maintenance easier.

The strength of the enclosure is also critical, especially when considering the potential for people to walk on top of it. ASSE 1060 mandates that the enclosure be strong enough to support the weight of maintenance personnel and equipment, as well as any snow or ice loads that may accumulate on top of the enclosure.

Thermal properties are also important to consider. ASSE 1060 specifies that the enclosure should be able to withstand extreme temperatures and weather conditions without degrading or compromising the integrity of the enclosure. This is especially important when the enclosure is used in outdoor environments where it may be exposed to harsh elements. ASSE 1060 classifies thermal properties into four different classes.

Lastly, the enclosure should allow for fluid to run out the bottom if water lines inside the enclosure break. This is to prevent water damage and ensure that the BPAs remain protected. ASSE 1060 requires that the enclosure be designed with drainage systems to ensure that any fluids are properly evacuated.

E3 Critical System Enclosures

E3 Critical equipment enclosures are designed to be walk-in to provide a larger space for workers to access and maintain mechanical and electrical systems. These enclosures are often used for critical equipment that requires routine maintenance or repairs, as well as for systems that require frequent monitoring or adjustments.

Enclosures that are designed to be walk-in typically have a larger footprint than enclosures that are designed for smaller equipment. They are made from high-quality materials such as stainless steel or aluminum, which provide durability, corrosion resistance, and the ability to withstand harsh environmental conditions.

To ensure that the enclosure is watertight, a variety of sealing methods are used, such as gaskets, seals, and compression fittings. The enclosure can also be designed with a sloped floor and drain to ensure that any water that enters the enclosure can be easily drained away.
